1. Who we are
Viduvo (“Viduvo”, “we”, “us”) is developed and operated by Mykola Petrychkevych, Ukraine. We are the controller of the personal data described in this policy. You can contact us at any time at [email protected].
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Learning preferences — your native language, English level, favourite topics, daily goal and reminder time.
- Learning content — the words you save, their review status, and the video and subtitle line each word was saved from.
- Messages — the content of emails you send to support.
Information collected automatically
- Activity in the app — videos you watch, like or follow, watch progress, minutes learned per day and your streak.
- Device and technical data — device model, operating system version, app version, language and region settings, and a random app installation identifier.
- Diagnostics — crash reports and performance data that help us find and fix bugs.
- Advertising identifier — if you use the free version with ads, the advertising partner may process your device’s advertising ID. You can reset it or opt out of personalised ads in your Android settings.
Purchases
Subscriptions to Viduvo Plus are processed by Google Play. We do not receive or store your card or payment details. Google tells us whether a subscription is active, its plan, and its renewal or cancellation status so we can unlock Plus features.
We do not ask for your name, phone number, contacts, photos, precise location, microphone or camera.
3. How we use information
- To provide the app: show videos, subtitles and translations, and save your words and progress.
- To personalise your feed by level and topics.
- To schedule word reviews and send the daily reminder you set.
- To provide and verify Viduvo Plus subscriptions.
- To keep the app secure, fix crashes and improve features.
- To answer your support requests.
- To show ads in the free version.
We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it to make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
4. Legal bases
Where data protection laws such as the GDPR apply, we process your data to perform our contract with you (providing the app and Plus), on the basis of our legitimate interests (security, diagnostics and improving the app), with your consent (notifications and personalised ads, which you can withdraw at any time), and to comply with legal obligations.
5. YouTube videos
Viduvo uses YouTube API Services to search for and play videos. Videos are played through the official YouTube player, and YouTube may collect information about your viewing in line with its own policies. By watching videos in Viduvo you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. See the Google Privacy Policy for how Google handles data.
6. Who we share information with
We share data only with service providers that help us run Viduvo, under contracts that limit their use of it:
- Google Play — app distribution and subscription billing.
- YouTube / Google — video playback.
- Cloud hosting and database providers — storing your learning data so it is not lost.
- Translation providers — the words and sentences you tap are sent to translate them. They are not linked to your identity.
- Analytics, crash reporting and advertising partners — such as Google Firebase and Google AdMob.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users’ safety, or as part of a merger or sale of the app, in which case this policy will continue to apply.
7. International transfers
Our providers may process data outside your country, including in the European Union and the United States. When we transfer personal data from the EEA or UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
8. How long we keep it
We keep your learning data while you use the app. If you delete your data or do not open the app for 24 months, we delete it or make it anonymous within 30 days. Diagnostic data is kept for up to 90 days. Support emails are kept for as long as needed to resolve your request. We may keep some records longer where the law requires it.
9. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and stored with providers that apply industry-standard security. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and limit who can access it.
10. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. You can also:
- turn off notifications in the app or in Android settings;
- reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalised ads in Android settings;
- change your language, level and topics in Profile at any time.
To use any of these rights, email us at [email protected]. We will reply within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
11. Deleting your data
You can ask us to delete all data linked to your Viduvo app at any time by emailing [email protected] from any address with the subject “Delete my data”. Please include your device model and roughly when you started using the app so we can find your data. We will delete your saved words, progress, history and preferences within 30 days and confirm by email. Uninstalling the app removes the data stored on your device. Subscription records are kept by Google Play according to Google’s policies; cancel a subscription in Google Play before deleting your data.
12. Children
Viduvo is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country) and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
13. This website
This website does not use cookies for tracking and does not require you to sign in. Our hosting provider records standard server logs (such as IP address, browser and pages requested) for security, kept for a short period.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the “Last updated” date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app. The current version is always available at viduvo.app/privacy.
